WOMEN IN BLOCKCHAIN

24 SEPTEMBER 2018

NEM BLOCKCHAIN CENTRE

The NEM Foundation presents the inaugural Women in Blockchain Asia as part of our pursuit to educate and enhance the knowledge and use of blockchain in the enterprise environment.

What better way to kickstart KL Blockchain week than presenting the most innovative and change-making women in the technology and blockchain industry, not only locally, but globally.

The event will focus not only on blockchain education and new technologies but also how they will shape not only Malaysia but the whole world.

And while we are celebrating and encouraging women in blockchain and other technological areas, we also want to help and support a vulnerable collective, in this case, women at risk of social and economic exclusion. For that reason, we have partnered with two local non-profit women’s organisations and will be donating a part of the proceeds to their cause.

Women in Blockchain is not your average blockchain event. While most Blockchain and tech events are male-dominated, we wanted to showcase the hardworking women in the industry as well as give them a voice to share their knowledge and point of view.

That being said, all genders are also invited to join us to learn, share and grow together to build a better Malaysia for our future generations.

ETHKL #4: Exchanges

28 SEPTEMBER 2018

Wisma E&C, No.2, Lorong Dungun Kiri, Bukit Damansara Suite 9.01, Level 9, Kuala Lumpur

7:00 PM to 9:30 PM

ETHKL is a monthly meetup focusing on Ethereum tech, community, and use cases. On 28th September we’ll dive into the topic of exchanges with two of the biggest Ethereum exchanges around: Kyber Network and CoinHako.

Guests:

LOI LUU – CEO & Co-founder of Kyber Network

Loi earned his Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore doing research on cryptocurrencies, smart contract security, and distributed consensus algorithms. Before Kyber, he developed Oyente, the first open-source security analyzer for Ethereum smart contracts. He also designed the first sharding protocol for public blockchains which inspired Zilliqa. He continues to champion the decentralization and trustless properties of the Blockchain with Kyber Network, taking inspiration and developing value for the community.

Kyber’s on-chain liquidity protocol powers decentralized atomic swaps and transactions between applications and ecosystems. By allowing open contribution of liquidity from token holders and simple integration by DApps and projects to access the contributed liquidity, Kyber enables a more connected tokenized world where any token is usable anywhere.

GERRY ENG – CTO & Co-founder of CoinHako

Frustrated by banking woes in the region that he believes is slowing down the adoption of blockchain tech, Gerry is working hard to build solutions to help consumers circumvent the traditional financial systems. This includes a P2P OTC platform as well as digitizing national currencies on the blockchain. Prior to Coinhako, Gerry worked as a software engineer in various companies, specializing in security and scaling high-frequency transactional systems. Gerry attended UOW, where he majored in Computing.

Gerry co-founded Coinhako in 2014 with the goal to make blockchain assets accessible and easy to use. Since inception, Coinhako has processed more than $4b in transactions and currently operates in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam.
